Summary of the 2024 Competition Winners

The results of five club competitions currently lead to the designation of “Champion of Champions”. For 2024, the overall winner was Steve Peace, who came first in the Triples and Winter Melee competitions, as well as scoring highly in the other contests.

The Pairs Competition was played during the glorious week in April when we celebrated the Club’s tenth anniversary. Winners this year were Brendan Callaghan and Nell Griffiths.

The Triples cup was contested in May. Robin and Rita Schofield and Steve Peace took the honours.

In July the Singles cup was won by Didier Lalanne.

The melee competition running from January to June was won by Sue Dixon.

The winter melee running from July to December was won by Steve Peace.

In other annual competitions, the Grail Trophy (men vs women) was won by the men, and the Peace Cup (Yorkshire vs the Rest of the World) was won by the ROW.

From October to December, we ran a Singles League, which had twelve participants. This was won by Brendan Callaghan.

New Internal Singles Competition Comes to a Conclusion

During the last 3 months of 2024 we kicked off a new internal singles competition with competitors electing to join the competition and organising their own games. Twelve people elected to join this 1st competition which completed in Mid December.

The next singles competition will commence in the 1st week of January. Anyone wanting to participate MUST add their name to notice on the Club Noticeboard as a matter of urgency.
