Club pairs champions

IMG_133619 people turned up for the club pairs event which made the maths difficult but after 3 rounds Rock & Roll (Robin & Rita) had won 3 games with +29 and Bouleangers (Daniel and David) had won 3 games with +32. The Bar Stewards (Doug and Alan) had also won 3 but with a small points difference so we were looking to a thrilling final with two free scoring teams. With plenty of spectators  (aka hecklers) it turned out to be  short affair and Daniel and David won the title of Club Pairs champions for 2015 and received a stylish trophy each.

Club Singles is in August and we need to fit in Club Triples which was cancelled recently but there doesn’t seem to be much appetite for triples…

100th post

20150711_132925For the second time in a week Huddersfield win a pot. At the Mirfield pairs event Roy and Sue won 2 out of three games as did Pat and Julie but Pat & Julie had the better points difference and won a cash prize for their 3rd place. Lots of distractions – a cricket match, a beer festival, an antique american school bus serving burgers and a lorra lorra people and cars milling about but another great result. Pat and Julie called their team the Munchkins…

Huddersfield podium in York!

IMG_0021Out of 42 players Michael was one of only 3 players to win all his 5 games and walked away with the 3rd place in the melee held at Stockton Fox Petanque club today. 16 Huddersfield players attended and most of them won raffle prizes. Nice to see a green shirt winning a prize.

Roy takes the lead

MeleeOur regular first Sunday of the month melee had 21 players today and Roy took second place behind David W and ahead of Pat. Only David – the winner – and Roy won all their three games.

Next one is Sunday 2nd August. With this placing Roy leaps to the top of the league table hotly pursued by 5 ladies.

Bastille Day for the chop

guillotine-1On Tuesday July 14th as it is Bastille Day we were planning to celebrate with a few french refreshments and maybe the odd person or two dressing up as a frenchman but regrettably we have to tone down our celebrations.

The league team has a match at Mirfield and many committee members are away. There will still be a few players at Greenhead but most will be at Mirfield.

The bottles of wine that have been purchased for this date will be kept at 12 degrees in a horizontal position for a few weeks and be brought out at a future date.
