Thank you

Logo Open DayLast weekend we were open for business from before lunch until tea time on both Saturday and Sunday.  We called it an open day and the idea was to get more people playing. And we succeeded. On Saturday 11 new people tried the game and more sat on the new benches and watched.

Thank you to all the members who gave up their time to help out. We’ve already had 2 new members and many more took a card or a leaflet. As the weather warms up no doubt we’ll see more visitors to the terrain.

Mixed Pairs Results

Although you don’t know what’s in these envelopes all three teams seem very happy. That’s because there were entry fees and entry fees mean cash prizes!

The Mixed Pairs took place yesterday on a lovely sunny day. 12 teams paid their entry fee and played a 3 round snake during the afternoon. Two teams won all their games. Best of the teams that won 2 games was Rhythm & Soul (Roy and Sue).

But the winning team was M & S (Malcolm and Sandra) with 3 wins and a points difference of +22. Nice raffle, nice weather and a good day was had by one and all.

£1 melee attracts 20 players

£1Tuesday 12th May and the lure of a quick tenner or fiver worked again. All you have to do is win a small competition of 3 games of petanque. Today it was Sue who won first prize and Roy was second. Well done to all who turned out. Next one is 11th June in the evening. Put in your diary.

Club video

video_iconWe have a club video. Made in our studios deep underground in Greenhead Park by a crack team of artists, copywriters and just ordinary people it lasts 84 seconds and is suitable for sending to your friends and enemies. It’s in the sidebar on the right under blogroll. Click to expand the screen and then press play. You’ll need speakers on. Enjoy…

Poundland

£1Today we tried a new event. A 3 round melee with an entry fee of £1. It had been trailed on literature and on noticeboards and the blog but still took a few by surprise. Despite that 16 people paid their pound and we played 3 rounds in about 2 hours.

After the scores were in  only one player had won all three games and that was Martin who walked away with the £10 first prize. Malcolm had the best points difference of the players who won two games. The other two times winners were Rita, Roy, Sue, Marie, Paul & Jane. Still time for some extra games afterwards and the club put £1 into club funds. There’ll be a few more £1 melees over the summer. Next one Tuesday May 12th.
