Committee news

The committee has grown. We now have Julie looking after club kit, julielawford@hotmail.com), Brendan and Martin looking at developing the terrain and its facilities as well as the original 3 committee members.

The committee also had a very positive meeting with Robert Whitaker, KMC Park Manager, who
listened to our plans to improve the terrain and agreed with most of them such as benches, a club shed, a club noticeboard and an extension to the terrain to cater for bigger events. This will have to be self funded as KMC have no money for this work. However we are looking at funding and sponsorship and will report to members as and when we make progress. If anyone has a spare garden shed about 3m by 3m or a few unwanted park benches please let us know.

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 7,600 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.

The big freeze

FusnowboulesThe snow wasn’t deep or crisp or even but 13 hardy players from Huddersfield Petanque club braved the cold weather last sunday to play with their boules.  They mulled over the prospect with a glass of wine and a mince pie then decided to give snow boules a try.

It wasn’t easy. The boules looked a lot like the silver balls that are sprinkled over Royal icing on Christmas cakes, the jack became lost in mini snowdrifts and the boules didn’t play as normal but they all enjoyed themselves and after a couple of hours went home to warm up.

Forecast for next Sunday’s melee is much better.
