The committee has grown. We now have Julie looking after club kit, julielawford@hotmail.com), Brendan and Martin looking at developing the terrain and its facilities as well as the original 3 committee members.
January Melee
First monthly melee of the year saw only 3 players win all their 3 games. Well done to Daniel, Rita S and the winner Pat with points differences of +13, +15 and +17 respectively. 22 players and a lovely cold sunny day. Next one on 1st February. Don’t forget regional event on 18th January. Come along and watch some good players. Starts 0945 and goes on all day.

2014 in review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 7,600 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.
The big freeze
The snow wasn’t deep or crisp or even but 13 hardy players from Huddersfield Petanque club braved the cold weather last sunday to play with their boules. They mulled over the prospect with a glass of wine and a mince pie then decided to give snow boules a try.
It wasn’t easy. The boules looked a lot like the silver balls that are sprinkled over Royal icing on Christmas cakes, the jack became lost in mini snowdrifts and the boules didn’t play as normal but they all enjoyed themselves and after a couple of hours went home to warm up.
Forecast for next Sunday’s melee is much better.
