Name that homme!

petanque_0Our new club banner unveiled on Tuesday looks tremendous but the guy needs a name!

No prizes for this competition just the honour of winning.

I’ll start the boule rolling with ‘Henri Pierre Cochonnet’ (HPC)

A great day

It__s_gonna_be_a_great_day__by_bananaaaaaaaaTuesday 29th July was our first big event where players from around the region were invited and they came from York, Bridlington, Wetherby and even Heckmondwike.

24 players took part so there were 6 games on the terrain – the most ever at one time. We played 5 rounds and the best performance from a Huddersfield player was Sandra who won 4 of her games.

But the first three were experienced players from other clubs who won all their 5 games and took away the prizes. Overall winner was Ted, Alan was second and Mick was third. Well done everyone. Pictures in the Gallery.

We have a Clubhouse

clubhouseToday Councillor Judith Hughes handed over the keys to a room  near the cafe where the club can congregate and also to a store room where we can keep our stuff instead of the boots of committee member’s cars.

The room is about 6m by 6m and has a toilet, a mini kitchen and although there are desks in it at present they will be taken away soon and replaced with some trestle tables. We have to share with Park rangers and police but that’s not a big issue. Down stairs under the room we have part of a store room which we will share with various groups but will hold gazebo, tables and chairs quite easily. We hope to see you Thursday at 5-30pm to view the room and to play a game or two thereafter.

Club Triples

les_triplettes_de_belleville____in_nightgowns_by_whiteartwork-d4lxpu6A magnificent turnout of 18 people so the maths was easy. After 3 rounds no team had won all three matches so it was down to 2 wins plus points difference. And thanks to a 13-1 victory in round 1 the winners were 3 in a bed (Robin, Rita and Pauline). The runners  up were the Ferrets ( John, Marcia and Sue).

Well done all. Next big event Tuesday 29th an all day melee – bring your own lunch – start 1030 – 5 games in one day.
