Chess with steel balls in Greenhead Park
This will be to Stockton Fox petanque club and starts at 1030 so we’ll need to leave from Marsh gates at 9am. The cost is £3-50 which includes a buffet lunch. It lasts all day.
It’s a melee so you get a different partner every round and play 5 rounds. They’re a friendly lot and there could be 50 people there. Bring a fleece and a waterproof and a chair if you really want.
Leave in convoy but if you get lost it’s up to Ainley top, M62 to M1, then A64 past York to the roundabout where it becomes a single carriageway and first right after about a mile into a small road called Barr Lane. At T junction turn right and look out for the village hall on your right. Free parking. If you need a lift let Paul or Roy know. 07977772971 or 07867940340. No need to book – just decide on the day if you’re going. It will definitely go ahead whether HPC is there or not.
12 people turned up for this so there were 6 teams playing in a 3 round format. Two teams won all three matches and so it was settled on points difference. Frenglish (David & Sue) had a points difference of +13 and were runners up to The Idiots (Michael & Christine) who had a points difference of +15 and are therefore the Club Pairs Champions!.
But that’s not the end of it. The two teams played each other in a ‘decider’ and Frenglish beat the Idiots 13-8.
Great afternoon. Competition finished by 3pm so most people played on for a few more games.
All 3 committee members are away in the next few weeks at various times so we need a few people to help out at Club sessions starting Sunday. All you have to do is organise games, welcome interested onlookers and hold a few boules, coches, and associated stuff.
Contact Chair on 07977772971 if you can help.
Weather forecast looks good for Sunday and also for Tuesday 10th June which will be our second competition. Like the first it will be a melee so any number can play – just turn up 10 minutes before the start time of 1pm to be allocated a partner for the first round of games.
There’ll be a second and third round with a random partner each time and we’ll keep score as we go. The winner will be the person who wins most games. In the event of two or more with the same number of wins we’ll look at points difference to determine the winners.
Club members only. No entry fee. No prizes. Roy will be organising the games and keeping the score. We have some spare boules to lend you. Be early !!
