Och aye, the boules !

Pétanque in Scotland

We have been invited to play in Ayr (and hopefully Troon) from 20th – 23rd June. Help with finding accommodation (be it hotel, self-catering or camping) is available, and shared transport a possibility. If you are interested in this trip please let Nell know by the end of February. No commitment necessary until plans and costings have been finalised.

Ayr is a coastal town which lies on the mouth of the River Ayr which flows out into the Firth of Clyde. The Isle of Arran is nearby and, on a very clear day, you can see the northern tip of Northern Ireland. To get there bear left at Gretna Green.

Pennine League 2

Sunday 28th January saw the second round of the Pennine league at Trafford. Team of the day was Heckmondwike winning eleven and a half of their 15 games. Updated table below.

Next Fixture in a few weeks. E & OE.

Winter Pairs 21st Jan

52 players and 26 teams played all Sunday in atrocious conditions but completed 5 rounds before sunset. Winners were Matt Blyton and Mukhtar Benarab who is currently the No. 1 ranked player in England. They won all their 5 games with a massive points difference of +48

16 players from HPC took part some for the first time and all of them won at least one game. Best HPC performance on the day was Mike Stedman with a fantastic 5 wins and +40 that would probably have won on any other weekend. Brendan and Nell won 4 games.
