Chess with steel balls in Greenhead Park
Only 1 member won all 3 games – Brendan with 3 wins +23. joint 2nd were Kevin & Amanda with 2 wins +13 points.
Several members were in with a chance to win the Spring Melee and Kevin came through from previous 4th place and with his joint second on the June Melee achieved 28 points. This just pipped Maureen’s total of 27 points to win the Spring 2022 title.
21 people turned out for our Race Day, although it started off cloudy the sun came out and it was quite warm. We played a 3 round melee and the winners were 3rd place – Brendan 2nd place – Nell and the winner was Christine who were all presented with rosettes. We held a raffle which raised £41. Best dressed on the day were Graham and Claire who made a massive effort.
30 people played which is one of the best turnouts for some time. A dry day but a bit cloudy. Winner on the day was Pete with Rita S & Sue C joint second. With last months leaders not scoring many points the pack closed up but Maureen will win again if she if beats Sue but Sue can win it if she beats Maureen by 2. If these 2 don’t play and score well there is a chance for 13 others who could pinch it but they’ll need a big score to do it and for all their rivals to falter. June the 5th will be a crucial competition. E & OE subject to sight of scoresheet from the event.
Twenty Two members took part in the Club Singles on 28th April with Brendan and Maureen reaching the final, which Maureen won. Sue came 3rd. Rita W 4th and Robin 5th.
