Over 30 people played in the Peace Cup this afternoon where the Rest of the World beat Yorkshire Born and Bred by 11 games to 10 games over 3 hard fought games.

The team had another successful day on Tuesday Morning against Mirfield
In the Triples event the teams of

Sue, Carol & Marie were victorious winning 13 – 8
Doug, Sandie & Maureen after leading for most of the match unfortunately lost 8 – 13

In the pairs event

Sandie & Marie won 13 – 3
Doug & Carol won 13 – 10
Maureen & Sue won 13 – 12

The Huddersfield Rotary Club booked an evening of Petanque entertainment on June 10th. 25 players took part in the 3 round Melee competition.

Before the action started there was the small matter of buffet nibbles and drinks laid out on tables outside the clubhouse. The weather was simply superb for the full evening and to be honest I half expected the players to settle for buffet and nibbles the spread looked amazing.

The games commenced some 10 minutes later than scheduled. The players were supported on the evening for umpiring, coaching & scoring by the following HPC Members. Many thanks to these people for volunteering their time.

Winner on the night with 3 games and eighteen points was Yvonne. Alastair ran in a very close second with just two less points.

The evening seemed to be a tremendous success and after the awards ceremony the HPC Volunteers left the Rotary club to tuck into their Faith Supper, more food and drink I suspect.

Looking forward to another session next year.
