The Heptathlon Final results

The numbers have been crunched and all the results are in. Some interesting facts first…

  1. Everyone of 18 members who entered scored at least 1 point.
  2. The person in last place will surprise you.
  3. The hardest event was pointing into a circle 8m. (only 4 people did it).
  4. The highest scoring event was shooting at 6m. (only 2 failed to do it)
  5. 43% of scores were zero.
  6. We didn’t give some people enough credit on the day – Christine and Sandra L performed much better than our hasty back of an envelope calculations suggested.

What have we learned.

a) it was lot of fun although Roy suffered from the curse of the organiser

b) We made it too hard. Rolling coches should have have bigger targets. Pointing should have been at 6m as well.

c) We need more variety. Other events have been suggested like 10 pin bouling towards 10 half full lemonade bottles. Your suggestions welcome.

d) We’ll repeat it next year

Tomorrow is cancelled.

Our Heptathlon featuring 7 skills tomorrow is being postponed until the following sunday. Heavy rain is forecast  and even if it does clear up at 1400 or 1500 as they suggest the terrain might still be unplayable. We’ll try again Sunday 23rd. If anyone wants to defy the rain and play there will still be social play tomorrow but be prepared to get wet.

League matches

Both teams started poorly losing 1-4 in their first fixture but both bounced back winning 3-2 in their second. So after two weeks both teams have played 10 games and have 4 wins and are both in the middle of the league table.

Thursdays

Tomorrow 15th September  is the last Lemonade melee of the season. We haven’t had much luck with the weather this year and bottles of lemonade remain undrunk. Let’s do the best we can on Thursday 15th September.

Following this date we’re changing the time to 1700 start as it’s now dark by 1930 so the last 6 Thursday nights will work. After Hours change the Thursday evenings will disappear and Thursday 1300 will become the regular Thursday meeting.

See you tomorrow!

Summer Melee Winner is Marie

1sta
On the first weekend in September the final rites took place to crown the summer melee winner. We’d known for a while as Marie had won 3 events consequently scoring the most points possible in the revised scoring system and no-one could catch her.

And so it came to pass. Yvonne won the event on the day being the only player winning all 3 games. Geertje was 2nd and Elisabeth 3rd making a clean sweep for our ladies.

The stunning trophy was presented to Marie to hold for 6 months. In addition to the trophy she was given a medal to keep as the  trophy may well pass to someone else next Easter. At the same time previous winners, Daniel, Robin & Roy all received a medal.

4rth

Even if we had persisted with the previous scoring system Marie would still have won and most of the major places would have remained the same.

Pictures when they arrive. Meantime here’s the final table. Some players who didn’t score a point  all summer have been mercifully dropped off the list.
