2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 7,600 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.

The big freeze

FusnowboulesThe snow wasn’t deep or crisp or even but 13 hardy players from Huddersfield Petanque club braved the cold weather last sunday to play with their boules.  They mulled over the prospect with a glass of wine and a mince pie then decided to give snow boules a try.

It wasn’t easy. The boules looked a lot like the silver balls that are sprinkled over Royal icing on Christmas cakes, the jack became lost in mini snowdrifts and the boules didn’t play as normal but they all enjoyed themselves and after a couple of hours went home to warm up.

Forecast for next Sunday’s melee is much better.

Season’s Greetings from HPC

After a few wet and windy days where nobody could play Christmas morning has dawned bright and clear but we’ve all got better things to do. Here’s a jolly Christmas video for you. Hope to see you on Sunday 28th or the 4th.

You may see an advert to start with and you can remove the subscribe image by clicking on the top right corner. You have to watch it on you tube so go to the bottom right of the screen and click on the You Tube logo.

Thursday. Rain.

IMG_1051Not much else to say.

Sometimes winter weather beats petanque clubs. Next Sunday however we are hoping for drier weather for our shortest day melee.

There won’t be much light but we’ll do our best and EVEN IF IT RAINS we’ll drink the mulled wine and eat the mince pies. (probably in our mini-clubhouse).

Hope to see a few members.

Blizzard Boules

9210019-largeIt snowed. Not quite a blizzard but some heavy showers. Despite all that 13 people turned up and we played three rapid rounds. Well done to Jane G, Pauline, Sandra, Paul, Amanda, Brendan, Malcolm, Jack, David & Daniel, Sue, Rita and Roy. Only one player won all 3 games and that was Daniel. 7 players won 2 and the best of them was Jack with +12 then Paul with +11. All done and dusted before 3pm. See Winners tab.
