3 days of petanque with a different competition each day over the bank holiday weekend.
There were 22 pairs entered on Saturday. Brendan and Nell achieved a brilliant 3rd place. Pete & Margaret had 12th place with 2 wins, Robin & Rita 14th with 2 wins and Mike & Moira also had 2 wins & 18th place.
22 Mixed Pairs on Sunday and Robin & Rita took 7th place with 3 wins. Didier & Dominique a marqué 2 victoires pour 12eme. Pete & Margaret 14th. Brendan & Nell 16th place. Team Farnley made 19th.
Monday’s Triples only had 14 entries. Brendan & Nell teamed up with a player from another club and won 2 games but only placed 13th. This shows is that HPC teams can compete at regional level.

The final of the West Yorkshire Cup on Tuesday 22nd August was a re-run of last year’s final, and with the same result: a 3-2 win to Leeds.
HPC women won their triples match after the agony of going from 11-0 up to 12-12. Our mens’ triple team lost in a hard-contested match. In the mixed pairs, Brendan and Nell won.
All we can do is vow to re-double our efforts to build the squad and train hard for the 2024 summer season.
Over 20 people paid their money and played a 3 round melee on Thursday. There were 3 cash prizes who went to Pete in 3rd – the best of the 2 game winners

And yes nearly a dozen people went to the pub to sit outside in the sun.
