Inter-regionals took place on 5th & 6th September
at Weston Super Mare where 1,000 players gathered for a weekend to play region against region in an intense and high level competition. HPC were represented by Brendan, Nell and Vero who were Team Yorkshire 4 in the challenge Competition. It was difficult weekend for various reasons and you can see the full results at https://www.yorkshirepetanque.co.uk/results/Inter%20Regional%20Championships%202026.pdf
No pictures were taken of our team as they were too busy playing but there have now been over 10 members at HPC who have represented Yorkshire in a regional event and worn the dark blue polo shirt. If you want to do the same talk to someone at the club about how to qualify for Yorkshire. It all starts in spring with a competition called qualifiers and anyone can enter but the best 12 triples make the squad and play 2 fixtures against other regions.
September Melee 6th September
Keith won 3 and +26, Mel won 3 and +20 and Mavis and Robin won 3 with +8.
17 other players have taken part but not yet scored any points.
Yorkshire v Rest of the World 20th September
A very simple idea. Those born in Yorkshire played against those not born in Yorkshire in a 3 round competition and Yorkshire won 13-8. The victorious tyke team is above. It’s called the Peace cup and you can just about see it being held aloft by the winners.
