Last Melee winner Maureen demonstrated how to do it winning all 3 games with a massive points difference of +21 in the August 1st Melee. As July was washed out this is the first of the second half of the year. Next One 5th September.
In the last week of July a group from the Trefoil guild came for an evening session to learn about the game. There were 16 ladies from the Guild which is a support organisation for Girl Guides across the UK which also has a social side. Across the UK, there are over 1,100 Trefoil Guilds with over 18,000 members.
Trefoil Guild acts like a branch of Girlguiding and its members agree to support the guiding ethos – including the pledge to help other people.
Many members pass on their skills and knowledge to local guiding units, from helping Brownies work towards a badge to preparing older girls for a camping adventure. Many members are unit leaders or helpers in Girlguiding units.
On the day we showed them how to play and at the end of the evening we ran a 2 round competition where we mixed up the teams and collected scores. After this process Louise was declared the winner with 2 wins out of 2 and a large points difference and won the gold medal. Each participant took away a Certificate of attendance and promised to return next year for another evening.
The only team to win their 3 games on Tuesday were called MCK made up of Melvyn, Christine and Kevin who are now Triples champions for 2021 winning a magnificent trophy and a gold medal. Club Secretary Roy making the presentations
Marie won and Brendan and Pete came joint second which meant, unfortunately, that Pete ended up with a rosette saying 3rd place. We had a good turnout (lots of people had other arrangements) and everybody dressed accordingly and we had a brilliant day with lots of laughs.
